धृतराष्ट्र: उवाि - िाजा धतृ िा्रिेृहा;

धमक-क्षेत्रे - धमभण नूम (तीथणस्थल) म;

ेंकुरु-क्षेत्रे-ृुरुक्षेत्रिामृ स्थाि में;

समवेता: -एृत्र ;

युयुत्सवः - यद्धु ृििेृी इ्छा स;

े मामकाः -मिेेपक्ष (पत्रुों);

पाण्डवाः - पाण्डुृे पत्रुों िे;

ि - तथा; एव - निश्चय ही;

टकम्- क्ट्या;

अकुवकत - क्ट्या;

नृया; सञ्जय - हेसजं य ।

 

  1. उवाच (uvaacha) - Dhritarashtra said.
  2. धर्मक्षेत्रे (dharmakshetre) - In the field of righteousness.
  3. कुरुक्षेत्रे (kurukshetre) - Kurukshetra, the land named after the Kuru dynasty.
  4. समवेता: (samavetaah) - Gathered together.
  5. युयुत्सवः (yuyutsavah) - Desiring to fight.
  6. मामकाः (maamakaah) - My sons.
  7. पाण्डवाः (paandavaah) - The sons of Pandu.
  8. एव (eva) - Certainly.
  9. किमर्थं (kimartham) - Why?
  10. सञ्जय (sanjaya) - O Sanjaya.
